The Ellen Rowe Quartet, with special guest Ingrid Jensen, will play this year’s Detroit Jazz Festival on Labor Day weekend (September 4). Time and stage to be announced—stay tuned for details!

Ellen’s summer teaching gigs include Phil Dwyer's Academy of Culinary and Musical Arts, Qualicum Beach (Vancouver Island) July 18–25, and the Centrum Jazz Workshop July 25–Aug 1 in Port Townsend, Washington.

Ellen recently conducted California and South Dakota All State Jazz Ensembles (February and May respectively), finished a commissioned arrangement of Red River Valley for the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, and arranged Dave Liebman's Le Roi du Monde for Chamber Jazz Ensemble with Dave as guest soloist.

Ellen finished in the top 30 percent at the Potowatomi Trail Marathon in April and will run running the Pineland Farms 50K in Maine on May 30.

Here at last! Ellen’s new CD, Wishing Well, was released on January 15, with a sold-out concert at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, featuring the Quartet and special guests, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen and saxophonist Andy Haefner.

In January 2009 Ellen completed an ascent of Argentina’s Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas (22,840 feet).
